A cooperation protocol was signed between Akdeniz University and İmece Plastik, a subsidiary of Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri. The Faculty of Agriculture and İmece Plastik will research the effects of different greenhouse covers on the products to be grown.

A cooperation protocol was signed between Akdeniz University Faculty of Agriculture and İmece Plastik, a subsidiary of Türkiye Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri. The greenhouse effect on the products to be grown in the greenhouses to be built with the protocol will be investigated and the results will be compiled into a report.

Within the scope of the protocol signed by Akdeniz University Rector Prof. Dr. Özlenen Özkan and Türkiye Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri General Manager Fahrettin Poyraz at the Akdeniz University Board Room, two plastic greenhouses, each with a total area of one thousand square meters, will be established for the Faculty of Agriculture using different plastic cover materials free of charge. In addition, trial activities will be carried out for smart packaging. The greenhouse to be built by the company and the effects and results of all covers, materials and packaging to be used on the products to be grown by the faculty will be compiled in a report and shared between the parties.
With these studies, İmece Plastik aims to further develop its products, support agricultural activities at world standards and above in our country, offer value-added products to our farmers and support agricultural exports.

Results Will Be Reported

The effectiveness and development areas of the greenhouse covers, where product development activities are carried out as a result of scientific observations and tests in greenhouse areas of a total of 2,000 square meters specially designed for different types of vegetables and fruits, will be tested and reported.

With our project here, we will have provided a beneficial service to both our farmers and our society. Universities are important stakeholders for us because producing and consuming information should be coordinated. We believe that if this connection can be established properly, especially within the understanding of social responsibility, the social benefit will be at the maximum level. In the greenhouse cover we will create, which is two thousand square meters, we will be instrumental in a beneficial service by combining the power of both institutions in terms of both the production of product-based greenhouse covers and the development of smart packaging products, especially in the packaging industry, which Türkiye needs.”
