We will have butcher sections in our large stores. In small markets, we will deliver processed and packaged products to our consumers.
The 515th branch of the Türkiye Tarım Kredi Kooperatif Market was opened in Bilecik. Speaking at the opening, Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri General Manager Dr. Fahrettin Poyraz said, "We will have butcher sections in our large stores. In small markets, we will deliver processed and packaged products to our consumers. Hopefully, we aim to put our own products in our stores."
Stating that Tarım Kredi Kooperatifleri serve as a balancing factor between producers and consumers, General Manager Poyraz said that investments in the field of market operations continue. Making statements after the opening of the 515th branch of the Kooperatif Market, Poyraz said, “While we are developing our market network on the one hand, we are also undertaking new works on the other hand so that our citizens can access healthy food. We are working especially on meat and milk. We took over a facility that was previously active but is now idle . We have continued our renovation investments for over 6 months. Our goal is to complete this investment by November. And to start production by the end of November.”
Poyraz, pointing out that they do not only view the work as an integrated meat facility, but also include animal breeders, said:
"We will actually do contract breeding with them and on the one hand we will give breeding animals to breeders through our own company , Tareks Hayvancılık, and we will give them with a purchase guarantee. After they raise livestock, we will buy them back from them and process them in our own facility, and first of all we will bring our products to our consumers in our own stores and other retail chains in Türkiye, God willing."
Poyraz stated that they will start selling meat with cattle first, and that they will expand the system to include sheep and goats as the system becomes more established.
Stating that citizens have a serious trust problem regarding meat products, Poyraz said, "They want to trust the product they buy. Starting from our big stores in particular, we will eliminate the difference between the facility and the store with instant images. With the systems we will establish there visually, our consumers will have the opportunity to instantly see in which environment that product was produced when they reach for it on the shelf."
"Our aim is to create a threshold value here"
Poyraz stated that their aim was market regulation and pointed out that they did not put very high profits on the cost after making a cost calculation.
Poyraz, who stated that the company is trying to carry out this work with a figure that will enable it to continue its commercial activities, said:
"Our aim here is to create a threshold value. If there is a bloat in the market regarding profits, that bloat should be removed anyway. They interpret us as follows: 'We will provide the cheapest product.' No, we are price setters in the market. We create a threshold value. In fact, this is the function of cooperatives all over the world. You determine a price for a product. Other actors in the market try to sell their goods at prices close to this price under competitive conditions in the market. Sometimes they fall below us and sometimes they stay above us. What is important is that if there is excessive profit there, that profit should be balanced through cooperatives."
Poyraz stated that they will develop cooperation not only with their own companies but also with many breeders and cooperative organizations in the coming period, and said, "We will have them do contracted production and create an alternative channel for purchasing the livestock they raise, processing them and transporting them to the market."
Poyraz, who stated that processed meat products will be available in all markets, said, "We will have butcher sections in our large stores. If you appreciate, in small markets, since each of these has a cost, we will deliver them to our consumers in processed and packaged products. Hopefully, we aim to put our own products in our stores."
